Our Services

Dr. Najjar performs sleep studies at Decatur General Hospital, Crestwood Hospital and is the Sleep Director for Parkway Medical Center. The most common disorders are Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome, Narcolepsy, Periodic Limb Movement Disorder, Restless Legs Syndrome, and Insomnia.

An overnight sleep study, known as a polysomnogram, is necessary to diagnose many sleep disorders. This is a painless procedure in which a variety of physiological parameters are recorded (breathing patterns, air flow, oxygen levels, eye movements, brain waves, heart rate and rhythm, leg movements, snoring) from electrodes attached to different parts of the body. This data from the test is analyzed and reviewed by sleep specialists, who then make appropriate recommendations to manage the condition. Follow up visits are scheduled as required and Dr. Najjar will map out your plan of care.

What is a pulmonologist?

Pulmonology involves the study and treatment of respiratory diseases and disorders. A pulmonary physician, or pulmonologist, treats diseases of the lungs, airways, and all other respiratory organs. The pulmonologist diagnoses and treats pneumonia, asthma, bronchitis, emphysema and other respiratory problems, and uses a variety of invasive and non-invasive diagnostic techniques to help patients. Dr. Najjar specializes in the treatment of numerous diseases including emphysema, broncho-esophagology, pneumonia, lung disorders, cystic fibrosis, asthma, bronchitis and sleep disorders.

Sleep Disorders can lead to disruptions in daytime functioning and increase the risk of cardiovascular disease. Obstructive Sleep Apnea, Restless Legs Syndrome, and Narcolepsy are a few of the many sleep disorders that can be disabling and lead to other medical problems.
